I randomly asked H this evening if he wanted to make an accent vlog with me, and he said he would. A number of people going to The Blathering have done this, so I am just a follower, I guess. Please excuse the lighting. We’re not really that green. And also, I don’t think we’re as funny as the screen shot may make us look.
Say the following words:
Aunt, route, wash, oil, theatre, iron, salmon, caramel, fire, water, sure, data, ruin, crayon, toilet, New Orleans, pecan, both, again, probably, spitting image, Alabama, lawyer, coupon, mayonnaise, syrup, pajamas, caught
And answer these questions:
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that curls into a ball when you touch it?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you use to change the TV channel?
You guys are adorable!!! I love it. I love how you say suuuuuuuuuuuure.
How else do you say sure? Do we say it really slowly?
Thanks!
I am so tempted to watch this video right now at full volume but since SOMEONE is blissfully sleeping, I’ll save it for later.
Heh.
Hey H, I’m a dog person but I am going to the blathering
Ha. I am not a crazy cat lady, so I don’t know why H thinks everyone else is. And he has even met several other bloggers and liked them! He just likes making fun of me.
You’re pretty.
I had no idea some of these questions had alternate answers. There are other words for shopping cart and daddy long-legs? I don’t have the patience for videos – maybe someone can fill me in.
I think that some Southerners say buggy instead of shopping cart.
I don’t know another word for daddy long-legs. H called it a harvester spider, but he was just trying to show off.
You guys are such a cute couple.
I love how you make each other laugh.
How did you get your husband to appear in a blog video with you? Mine would NEVER go for that. H must be super awesome.
H is going to love this comment.
very nice, no accent on you. I have been debating doing an accent vlog except that it would require me to shower, do my hair and put on makeup. And figure out how to work the camera thingy on my computer.
I wish I were going to the Blathering.
This is me at about 10 p.m., after a day of work and going to the park with the kids. So not my best, but whatever. It’s a blog.
Love it! I’m going to make Rob do this.
Fun! I’m glad I did this with H. I think this is a good representation of our relationship. =)
HAH, you guys make me laugh!
Thanks, Crazy Cat Lady.
A LITTLE LUNCH. Is. Totally. A Thing. We say that in my family too.
AND, we say breakfast, dinner, supper, which I can now see is totally weird. Lunch is, like, A SNACK.
I usually side with H on the Minnesota-ism, probably because we’re both from BFE, but what kind of Minnesotan says “soda?” POP. POP POP POP.
HOTDISH! Aww, this actually made me a little homesick. You guys are so cute.
Don’t validate H!
Yeah, most people here say pop. I’m not sure why H says soda.
Yes, I agree with Tess, people here DO say “a little lunch”, though like she said, I live out in BFE as well, so maybe it’s a “greater MN” thing? (Also, saying “greater Minnesota” is TOTALLY a Minnesota thing!)
And I agree that “soda” should be Pop. I only say soda when I’m feeling like I want to be sophisticated.
I seriously thought it was only H’s family who called every meal lunch and who said “a little lunch.” I can’t believe it really is a MN thing!
“Greater MN” – that made me smile.
This made my day! You guys are too cute.
You are too nice. Thanks.
Hah, I read the words to myself and of course had to say MAY-OOOOO-NAAAISE like Officer and a Gentleman. Very happy to hear soda from you guys – I hate the word pop (probably the same way everyone else hates bubbler.) Hot dish is awesome and we say that as well. (Sorry H, hope you are not offended that Wisconsin shares some of your language.) You guys are really cute – thanks for doing this!
You’re husband is funny!
I grew up a couple miles south of the Minnesota border and you guys kind of sound like home to me! Which is weird, because I live in Des Moines now, so it’s not like I’ve gone far.
Ack! I just noticed the “you’re.” I clearly meant your.
If H’s family calls every meal lunch, then how do they ever invite anyone over to eat? “We told you to come for lunch! Why are you here at lunch?” Eleven of my fourteen cats agree this is very confusing.
Aw, you both sound so cute and Midwestern! If I do this I should do it in two accents: My normal voice and how my Georgia relatives talk.
