Both my parents and my sister are really excited I’m having a girl. Right now, 100% of my parents’ grandchildren are boys. This is because B is the only grandchild right now.
H’s family is also thrilled I’m having a girl. H’s parents currently have 10 grandkids:
Girl (age 15)
Boy

Girl (age 10)

Yes, that is six boys in a row. Nothing but boys for the last 10 years. H’s mom and H’s sisters have been praying for another girl for a LONG time. H’s mom already gave us some pink clothes that she went out and bought the morning we told her it’s a girl. I think they may be devastated if she turns out to be a tomboy.
That’s funny! Piglet will be the first grandchild on both sides but both of us come from girl-dominated families in general so it feels like this boy is an exception somehow. My sister is due with a girl six weeks after me and I think her in-laws are a little disappointed… they have five kids and I’m pretty sure that every single one of their grandkids is a girl, including my sister’s two stepdaughters.
I am SO EXCITED for you guys!!! And I can’t wait to make you little baby girl clothes!
I’m really excited that you’re having a girl, and are working on creating gender balance in the family.
It would be kind of cool (for opposite reasons) if my baby turns out to be a boy. I’m one of three girls, my two sisters have five girls between them. If I am pregnant with a boy I’m afraid my dad may be so overjoyed his head will explode.
